This research provides comparative analytical approach to the study for affirmative action (the reservation) between US and India. Chhattisgarh newly formed state provides the better understanding of the government policies on reservation. The affirmative action policies have been much debated in the 1960s in US and since independence in India. The data has been collected from one district of Bastar district of Chhattisgarh to understand the impact of reservation. This provides better understanding on the implementation of government policies related to the opportunities to the deprived and marginalized sections of the newly created state.
