This book is the result of the seminar entitled "Tangible and intangible heritage of Adivasi culture in Central India: continuity and change" which was organized to discuss the interface of Adivasi culture with all the incoming forces in a comprehensive manner. The thrust of the discussion was continuity and change among the Adivasis of Central India. In order to contextualize the cultural, social and historical dynamics of the region, it is important to look beyond territorial and political boundaries and highlight the cultural continuities in the region. This becomes important when the issues and concerns of understanding the multi-dimensional aspects of culture are drawn to the attention of contemporary scholarship and policymaking. This is the way of recognizing manifestations of identities in the context of multi-cultural dynamics
